This UK-based drone expert not only presented heavy and dark bass-scapes, but he was also dropping some sand-like material in a pan at the same time. It was not quite clear what he was cooking, but the metallic sounds could be heard. Coleclough produced a static hiss sound that reminded of Daniel Menche at moments, especially when the intensity and the volume increased. Deep drones start to surrender the audience, extremely subtle shifts in texture occur and some metal scraping can be heard on top of organic textures. Just like on his albums, Cake (1998, Siren/Robot), Sumac, with Andrew Chalk (1999, ICR) and Windlass (1999, KIP), Jonathan Coleclough managed to create an excellent slowly churning resonant ambient bass collage in which tension grew steadily. Alchemy took care of the visual aspect.
